Are you thinking about starting a blog and aren’t sure what niche to choose? If so, did you know that you can get started for as low as $3.99/month with a FREE domain?

Here’s an interesting stat, one of the top blogs (Huffpost) makes $500 million per year, can you imagine? Well, it’s totally possible!

If you’re contemplating what niche to choose, then this article is for you. We’ll explore what a niche is, and how to choose the right one. Read on to explore the answer to your burning niche questions and pick out the right niche for you!!!

Niche Meaning

First thing’s first, a niche is a topic that you choose for your blog’s content. This is what you choose to blog about.

For example, this can be weight loss, hiking, camping, ballet, etc. If you want your blog to be here for the long-term, it’s important to choose a topic for your blog.

Some Profitable Niches

Some profitable niches are healthy eating, finance such as getting out of debt, hiking, fitness, basketball, and many others. Even if you don’t see your niche listed here, don’t let it discourage you.

When you pick out your niche, the first question is, do you have a passion for it? Also, are there people who will be interested in it?

If you choose pogo sticks, how many people are reallly interested in them? Head on over to Google Trends and see how many people over(about a year) are interested in the topic you’re considering.

How Far to Niche Down?

While you might consider a health blog, it’s important to niche down further. For example, consider having a weight loss blog, or a fitness blog. If you focus on too many variables at once it’ll be harder to keep track of your audience.

Keep in mind that with blogging it’s about quality not quantity. If you have 5,000 visitors a month who aren’t interested in what you’re talking about, it’s a waste. But, if you have 500 visitors who are interested in what you have to say, then sales are more likely to increase.

Write It Down

First, I want you to grab a piece of paper. Now, I want you to write down everything that comes to your mind.

Once you’re done, I want you to go through and then decide what you can see yourself writing about long-term. Remember that you might have your blog for years. So, if it’s something that you’re interested in for a couple of weeks and then lose interest, it’s not for you.

Once you have the nominees, head on over to Google Trends. Make sure that it’s set to a year and see how much interest there is over time.

Keep in mind that you want to avoid anything that isn’t steady with traffic. Even if it has huge traffic one month, it’s not worth it.

If you’re stuck and can’t think of anything, think about your current interests. What do you enjoy talking about? Reading about? Etc.

You might find it silly to write about, but there might be a demand out there!

Using Keywords

A solid idea that some use is to include a keyword in their domain! You’ll want to head over to Google’s Keyword Ideas or use another keyword tool to discover different keywords.

How Will You make Money?

Next, decide how you’ll make money. How? Well, head on over to some competitors. So if you’re going to be a Ballet Blog, head over to a search engine and type in Ballet Blogs. Or, even top ballet blogs.

How do they make their money? Write down the different ways blogs make their money for your convenience and solid future!

What About Micro Niches?

Micro Niches are when you niche down pretty far to the point that you have very low competition. For example, running a blog that teaches how to do well at music auditions.

Since they’re low in competition, that means it’s easier to monetize. Keep in mind though that niching down that far will mean it’s harder to come up with new content ideas.

In order to search for a micro niche idea, check out your current hobbies. What value can you give others?
