You have your hosting and domain picked out. You’re ready to go for your first blog post, but now what? You read online that blogs make a ton of money, they say it’ll be easy, but how do you make that next step?

In this article, I’ll walk you through how to set up your first blog post! It’s said that 99% of blogs fail, but why? Multiple reasons, from lack of interest, to not earning income. Join me and read on as you’ll get to explore the ultimate list to follow for setting up each and every blog post.

Writing a Blog Post

After you have your website set up, it’s time to set up your first blog post. First things first, content writing is about researching. Don’t let this scare you! It’s actually quite easy. I highly recommend that you decide on your first blog post.

Not sure how? Check out some keyword tools such as Google Keyword Planner, or Keywords Everywhere.

For example, say you write about baseball, maybe you want to talk about the top baseball stadiums in U.S. History, etc. Make sure it’s relevant to your blog!

Next, type in a keyword you’re thinking about and see the volume and competition. It’s best to avoid high competition, and instead go for a keyword that has lower traffic and lower competition.

Writing Research

Now that you have your topic and keyword, it’s time to start writing! Say you’re talking about the 5 best baseball stadiums in the U.S. First, head on over to your favorite search engine and type in the best baseball stadiums. Grab at least a few websites, preferably 4+.

Take a look at the different content they have regarding the stadiums. Next, you’ll either write as you go OR create an outline and then write.

Never copy someone else’s thoughts. Always put it into your own thoughts.

Write Away

Next, when exploring tips for writing a blog, write! Make sure that it pertains to the topic at hand. You’ll also want an introduction, body, and conclusion. You want your conclusion to tie into the topic and never name it conclusion!

How Long Should it Be?

It should be at least 500 words. Never use fluff though. Fluff is an obvious statement that people already know and can do without. For example, there are a lot of cars (ok and)?

Provide meaningful content to bring your audience back!

Call-To-Action

At the end of your post you should have what’s called a call-to-action. This is where you invite your readers to sign up for your email list, buy a product, check out your course/ebook, etc.

But, keep in mind that most people don’t read an entire article so don’t get down by the lack of traffic.

Edit Away

Make sure that you edit your post before posting it! If you have grammatical errors, it might turn some people off.

Photos

Did you know that blog posts with images get 94% more views? Include at least a cover photo for your blog.

Consider placing another photo in the post as well, depending on the topic. For example, if you’re talking about the top places to visit in the world, you’ll probably want plenty of pictures!
